Committee Dinner

The long-standing treasurer of Tockwith Show has stepped down and handed the reins over to a new successor.

Fiona Harris has held the role of treasurer for nine years, overseeing the finances for the annual show alongside numerous other activities carried out by Tockwith and District Agricultural Society (TADAS).

Her contribution was recognised at the organisation’s annual committee dinner, which was attended by 135 committee members and Friends of Tockwith Show.

Show chairman Lisa Chasney said: “Fiona has been a wonderful treasurer and has carried out an incredible amount of work for us over the past nine years.

“It was a pleasure to be able to recognise her contribution at the annual dinner. We’re delighted that she is staying on the committee and will continue to play an active role in our events.”

Fiona’s successor will be Malcolm Slinger, who said: “It is an honour to become treasurer in the 70^th anniversary year of Tockwith Show. There are lots of special events planned for the year and I’m very much looking forward to being part of the organising team.”

The annual dinner also featured a presentation on the Coast to Coast walk carried out by TADAS president Sam Blacker and secretary Steve Ross last August, immediately after Tockwith Show. Their photographs showed the ups and downs of the charity walk, which raised more than £5,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute.
