Tockwith and District Show Society was founded in 1945. At its Show in 1947, which was run to raise money for the Red Cross to support the personnel at RAF Marston Moor, with 12 helpers it created a surplus of £58.
Over the years it has progressed from being a purely Horticultural Show to becoming a full Agricultural and Horticultural Show with an estimated attendance in 2007 of more than 11,000 – making it one of the largest community events in the area.
In 2004, after 59 years enjoying the generosity of local farmers to provide us with sites to hold our Show, we purchased our own Showfield just outside Tockwith. Possessing a permanent base now permits us to embark on a rolling programme of improvements to make the site more suitable to a wide range of functions to support good causes.
We are always exploring ways to use our new Showfield to support other local charitable and community organisations. Please contact the show organisers for further details.
