The committee behind one of the region’s most successful village agricultural shows has said farewell to two of its longest serving members.
Tockwith and District Agricultural Society marked the service of Sam Blacker and Sarah Burckhardt at its annual committee and friends dinner attended by over 100 guests.
Mr Blacker stepped down as chairman last November after four years at the helm but will return in 2014 as the show’s president.
The incoming Chairman, Lisa Chasney, said: “Sam has been a supporter of the show all his life, in the early days as a competitor and more recently as a director having served two stints as chairman.
“We owe him a huge debt of gratitude for the enthusiasm, energy and expertise he has brought to the show.”
Sarah has been a committee member and director for over a decade and was the driving force behind developing the show’s farmer’s market.
“Sarah has been a stalwart of the fundraising committee and she will be greatly missed,” added Mrs Chasney.
Tockwith Show will hold its boot sale on May 6.
